Completion Percentage

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Completion Percentage highlights how individual actions contribute to a larger achievement. By tracking not only main objectives but also optional tasks and perfect scores, the system encourages players to go beyond the minimum and experience the full depth of what the game offers.

In the Spider-Man games on the PS4 and PS5 the player can constantly see their completion percentage in the map menu, this motivates the player to complete all of the side-content to get 100%.

This mechanic uses visual progress bars to show learners exactly how much they have accomplished and how close they are to the goal. It utilizes the human tendency to want to complete something once a significant time investment has been made. It is a powerful tool for ensuring that learners do not leave tasks unfinished due to fatigue or boredom.

Visualizing advancement makes the learner’s current status clear and tangible at any moment. Combining this with other rewards – like a badge for reaching 100% – provides a strong sense of final achievement and closure at the end of a module or task.

Showing participants their completion percentage is great for both informational and motivational purposes as they will be able to accurately assess how long the course or exercise will take to finish and they might be motivated to see the 100% mark on an assignment.
